More Than Paper: The Joy of Making Dimensional Cards
There’s something special about opening a handmade card and discovering a flower that lifts from the page, a layered butterfly, or a little scene that pops into view. Dimensional cards turn a simple greeting into a keepsake—and creating them is just as enjoyable as giving them.
In my dimensional card classes, we start with basic techniques that bring paper to life. By layering shapes, folding paper, and adding small foam spacers, students discover how to create depth and texture. A few thoughtful details can transform an ordinary card into something full of personality.
You don’t need to be an experienced crafter to join. I guide you through each step, from choosing coordinating colors to assembling your design. Beginners can build confidence, while more experienced students can experiment with their own creative touches.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing how differently each person interprets the same project. Someone chooses soft pastels and delicate flowers; another reaches for bright colors and bold patterns. Every finished card reflects the person who made it.
These classes also offer a chance to slow down, connect, and enjoy working with your hands. There’s time to chat, share ideas, and celebrate those little “I made that!” moments.
Best of all, you leave with a card you can give to someone special—and techniques you can use again for birthdays, holidays, thank-you notes, and other celebrations.
